"Title and copyright statement transcribed from upper cover. Copyright transposed; precedes the word "book" on title page. Copy in hand inscribed "66" (inventory number). "No. 66. "15 cent books ... No. 66. Starry flag ABC book. Size, 8 1/2 x 11 inches."-- Catalogue (New York: McLoughlin Bros., ca. 1899), p. 10. Copy also inscribed "7.50" (i.e., price per gross?). Cover included in pagination. Cover chromolithographed. In the text, two chromolithographed pages of alphabet letters are followed by two illustrated pages of verse/reading exercises printed in red and black ink. The illustrations printed in red and black look like the work of McLoughlin artist Charles Kendrick. Some letters are illustrated by children in pantomime/commedia dell' arte costume."
