Layout, typography and chromolithography suggest a publication date in the 1890s; McLoughlin Brothers switched much of its production over to chromolithography in 1895; cf. Radiant with color & art: McLoughlin Brothers and the business of picture books, 1858-1920 (2017), p. 22-23. "A few practical instructions for young painters."--p. [2] of wrapper. Instructions detail the use of watercolor paints."
