The first part is by Robert Dodsley, but sometimes attributed to P. D. Stanhope, Earl of Chesterfield; the second is attributed to John Hill.
With an additional titlepage, engraved, dated 1796, which reads: 'Economy of human life, forming part of Cooke's pocket edition of sacred classics, or moralist's instructive companion, containing a complete collection of universally approved works on moral & religious subjects by the most esteemed authors.'.
