This manuscript is a copy of the memoirs of Rose Hickman. It is stated to have been written in 1610, and contains a Protestant account of Rose Hickman's parents, events during Mary I's reign, and her son's adventures. It is stated to have been written for her children and posterity. The fact that there are three copies extant in the Britsh Library testifies to the success of her intention. This seems to be the fullest version. (Of the others, BL MS Add. 43827B appears to be an exercise in handwriting by Elizabeth Hickman in 1667, and ends while Rose's husband and brother are still in prison. BL MS Add. 45027 leaves out the account of her son but includes her epitaph and an account of her descendants up to 1637.) It is not clear when this manuscript is autograph or whether it is a scribal copy. - Original Version
