- Summary
- Filial Therapy Mock session with parent. Filial Therapy is a play therapy intervention for children and families in which the parents are the primary change agents. Filial Therapists train and supervise parents who will use Child-Centered skills to eliminate a child's problem behaviors. This video clip demonstrates a mock role play as a part of skill training. In this session, the therapist and the parent meet to "play out" a child play session. The therapist has taught the Filial Therapy skills in previous sessions. The therapist is now acting out the role of the child and breaking throughout the session to coach the parent. The following reference gives an in-depth explanation of the process of Filial Therapy: VanFleet, Risë. (2014). Filial therapy: Strengthening parent-child relationships through play (3rd ed.).
