The calculator is probably John Howe. The calculations on the calendar pages are practically identical with those in his Howe's genuine almanack for 1811 (Greenwich, Mass.) (Shaw & Shoemaker 20395), allowing for the fact that Howe's is calculated for Greenwich. The astronomical notes on the same pages are more plentiful in the present almanac, but those found in Howe are duplicated here. Howe is clearly not the "editor" whose preface appears on p. [2].
