- microopaque : positive ; 8 x 13 cm
- Summary:
- An investigation is presented of the microstructure of Zircaloy-2 as a function of melting technique, fabrication processing stages, and subsequent heat treatment. Emphasis was concentrated on the distributions and quantities of secondary micro-constituents in relation to the primary phase. In addition to the examination of structures from several fabrication stages of argon- and vacuum-melted Zircaloy--2, specimens of these materials were subjected to a series of isothermal anneals above and below the alpha-beta transformation range and cooled through this range at several rates to determine the effects of the transformation on the structural distributions.
