Summary
Nondestructive testing of CP-6 fuel elements using eddy current, ultrasonic transmission, and frost methods for voids and cracks in the Al-Si bonding layer, nonbonded areas, and Al-Si penetration is discussed. The design, operation, and sensitivity of a cyclograph and circuit modifications of multitest methods used in eddy current testing are described. Correlations of results obtained with the cyclograph and slug stripping, ultrasonic, and frost testing methods are presented. (C.J.G.)
