This volume derives from a meeting in London in June 1988. The use of wireline logs is diverse, and dates back to the experiments in the Pechelbronn oilfield in Alsace where, in the late 1920s, the first measurements were made. However, the application of wireline logs to geological studies is relatively still in its infancy. The papers are grouped together according to their geological topics, rather than in terms of the different logging tools, into: sedimentology; mineralogy and geochemistry; stratigraphic correlation; fault and fracture identification; and physical properties.
