Actions for INVESTIGATION OF VAPOR VOLUME FRACTION AND SLIP VELOCITY UNDER THE EURATOM PROGRAM. Quarterly Progress Report, October 1, 1960-December 31, 1963
Average vapor volume fraction (void fraction) and volume fraction profile data were obtained for eight different flow conditions in a three-inch test section. The flow parameters included pressures of 600 and 1000 psi, average void fractions of 0.30 and 0.50, and superficial liquid velocities of 1.0 and 2.5 ft/sec. The average void fractions from the integrated gamma attenuation traverses were compared with average voids determined using a manometer technique and the agreement was good at the low velocities tested. Profiles calculated from an exponential model were fit to the void fraction profile data. It was found that the 1000 psi data could be fit with an exponent of approximately 0.3 and the 600 psi data with an exponent of approximately 0.4. (auth)
