Admiral Sir James John Gordon Bremer, Naval Commander-in-Chief before Admiral Elliot; General Sir Hugh Gough, Commander of the Land Forces; Sir Henry Pottinger, who superseded Captain Elliot as Plenipotentiary after the unsuccessful preliminary treaty in January, 1841; Admiral Sir William Parker, who succeeded Admiral Elliot in November 1841, and others.
