A recognisable name in newsagents today, Homes & Gardens was originally launched in June 1919 as Our Homes and Gardens and claims to be 'the UK's first-ever home interest magazine'. Articles covered everything from the architecture of a house to the teapots in its parlour and the linoleum on its floors, and provided green-thumbed readers with gardening advice from colour schemes to planting calendars. From its very first issue Homes & Gardens was rich in visual content, showcasing the most fashionable architecture and design from across the country and beyond.
