The Amalgamated Press published The Schoolgirls' Weekly from 1922 to 1939 as a companion paper to The Schoolgirls' Own and The School Friend. It was larger in size than its sister papers, featuring an array of girls' stories that explored themes such as school life, domestic life, adventure and mystery, as well as various puzzles, competitions and advice features. The Schoolgirls' Weekly also served for many years as the home of teen detective Valerie Drew and her Alsatian dog, Flash. In 1939 the magazine was incorporated into Girls' Crystal, another Amalgamated Press publication, closely followed by sister paper The Schoolgirls' Own.
