Summary:

The research program being conducted on radioinduced color centers in alkali halide crystals and some of the results obtained are described briefly. A description is given of the design of a simple controlled semi-lowtemperature color-center cell for the measurement of the optical absorption spectrum of a crystal specimen before and after color center production by x or gamma rays.
