- The method of Hauser and Feshbach for calculating inelastic neutron cross-sections is described. Section I gives the general theory of the scattering process. Section II discusses the Hauser-Feshbach formula and the meaning of the various terms in it. In Section III the calculation of the transmission coefficients is discussed. Section IV outlines the procedure used in evaluating the Hauser-Feshbach formula. In Section V are discussed the level schemes for lead-207 and lead-206 and the methods by which they were determined. Sections VI and VII give the numerical results of the calculation for lead-207 and lead-206. Section VIII contains a discussion of the accuracy of the results and the comparison with the experimental observations. (auth)
