Appeal by Vere Foster, the British philanthropist who did much to promote emigration, especially by the Irish, to the United States. Foster's five numbered reasons for preferring to visit the U.S. "in reference to emigration from Great Britain, rather than the British colonies of Australia, New Zealand, and the Cape of Good Hope" are textually identical to those listed in his "Emigration. Copy of a letter addressed by Mr. Vere Foster, to the directors of the American Emigrants' Friend Society of Philadelphia."
