The American Antiquarian Society copy is annotated in a contemporary hand: So great was the popular demand for the earliest intelligence respecting this prize-fight, that this description which was entirely imaginary was published in advance of the event itself, & sold enormously. I bought this in the street in Boston. T.W.H. [i.e., Thomas Wentworth Higginson].
