Actions for Houston, Texas, August 26, 1867 [electronic resource] : Hon. [blank] Dear Sir:--At a meeting of the people in this place on the 17th inst., the following resolution was adopted, to-wit: "Resolved, that a mass meeting of the friends of the national anti-monopoly cheap freight railway system [i.e., National Cheap Freight Railway League] be held in this city on the 10th day of December next, without regard to race or color ... and that said meeting be carried on under the auspices of the Cheap Freight Railway League, in this city, and that their corresponding committee be requested to invite the following named gentlemen to address us."
