- Opposing the election of Caleb Cushing in the congressional campaign of 1830 by reprinting "the true record of his disgraceful imposture in 1826." Includes extracts from the Boston statesman and the Boston daily advertiser, and statements by Cushing, Samuel E. Sewall, and Col. Henry Orne.
Following the failure of any candidate to achieve a majority in the congressional election of November 1830, the opposing faction within the National Republican Party, supported by the press of the Essex gazette, Haverhill, Mass., printed by Abijah Wyman Thayer, revived the charges which had been levelled against Cushing during the congressional election in 1826. For an account of this acrimonious campaign which was resolved in November 1832, see Fuess, C.M. The life of Caleb Cushing, 1923, v. 1, p. 120-131.
