Matthias Lopez appears in the 1850 census at New London, Conn., age 40; in the 1860 census at New London, Conn., age 54; and in the 1870 census at Groton, Conn., age 74.
The Daily star changed its name to the New London evening telegram on May 10, 1873.
The first four lines are identical to those of "The granite mill fire," 1874, by A.W. Harmon.
