Summary
An experimental program was conducted on several BONUS fuel subassembly configurations to determine whether any unknown structural integrity problems were associated with the designs being evolved. Fuel subassemblies representative of an initial BONUS design (group I), and those representative of the final BONUS reference design (group II) were tested. It was concluded that the group I type subassembly was unsatisfactory whereas the group II type was generally satisfactory structurally except for braze joints. Other conclusions concerning fabrication and corrosion are included. (J.R.D.)
