- Two types of power tubes were produced, one type a three-foot length of 2-S aluminum tubing, the other a ten-foot length of 304 stainless steel tubing. Two hundred forty pounds of the lead-tin ailoy with a density of 10.2 g/cc was alloyed, cast, extruded, then formed in a pilling machine to final form. One hundred feet of 1/8-inch aluminum welding rod was swaged to 0.080 inches to be used as spacing elements in the cluster type fuel elements. (W. L.H.)
