The computer program SPEC, which computes the absorber content of samples from neutron transmissions measured in a crystal spectrometer, is described. Samples include types that contain absorber compounds embedded in matrix materials that also display absorption and scattering properties. For two- phase systems the effective particle sizes and microscopic shieldings of the absorber materials are also computed. The computational equationa, program listing, and sample input and output are included. (auth) H03 H0237997 Separate abstracts were prepared for fifty-six of the papers.
