- Summary
- Many times a cone is required to carry an axially symmetric vertical load which wlll induce an axial shear load on the edge of the cone. The equations given in Theory of Plates and Shells,'' Second Edition, by Timoshenko and Woinowsky-Krieger, Chapter 18, are used to derive simple expressions for the analysis of a cone. The edge rotation and deflection of a cone is given for the following types of loading: 1) edge moment, 2) radial edge thrust, 3) axial edge shear, 4) pressure loading. (auth)
