Dimensions of fringing shims for uniform-field magnets were computed using two-dimensional (conformal transformation) theory. Tables and graphs of design data are given for single shims and for shim-antishim combinations, appropriate to various required degrees of uniformity of field and field-gradient. The computations were restricted to very simple pole and shim geometries, but methods of extrapolation to more refined geometries are indicated. Application of the data to still more general magnet designs, e.g. quadrupole magnets, is also discussed. (auth)
