- Summary
- A scale model of an evaporator designed for concentration and decontamination of radiochemical wastes was installed and operated for two weeks. Satisfactory operation of the designed system is predicted by the experiment which indicates: an over-all heat transfer coefficient at 150 to 250 Btu/hr-ft/ sup 2/- deg F; no scaling in acid solutions; evaporation rates greater than the required 12.8 lb/hr-ft/sup 2/ heating surface; decontamination factors greater than 10/sup 3/ and perhaps as high as 10/sup 5/ (exclusive of iodine).
