The Phelps-Stokes Fund is a non-profit foundation established in 1911. The Fund's act of incorporation specifies that it be used for the erection and improvement of tenement house dwellings in the city of New York for the poor.. and the education of Negroes, both in Africa and the United States, North American Indians and needy and deserving white students.
