- Plaintiff seeks to recover the value of a slave named Albert from the defendant, under whose guardianship it was alledged that Albert died as a consequence of 'illegal, violent and unwarrantable conduct'. The defendant was accussed of attempting to seize and carry off the slave Albert and several other slaves from a wood-yard and to have terrified them so much that they ran off, after which Albert died by the roadside and the others suffered injuries from fright and fatigue. Judgement reversed so that the plaintiff recovered [dollars] 100 in damages, rather than the [dollars] 800 previously awarded.
