- Summary
- Potter purchased a slave from Richardson and mortgaged a house as a surety on the price to be paid at a date in the future. Potter refused payment after discovering that the slave was older than he was informed, that he actually belonged to Richardson's father and because he was not an adequate mason or bricklayer as expressed during the sale. Richardson got an order for a seizure of sale and was attempting to have Potter evicted from the mortgaged property. In this hearing the judge had the case remanded to be heard again in the district court.
