Summary
Appeal for being illegally confined as a slave. Yancy claimed to be a free person of colour. His application was refused. Yancy had been found guilty of violating the Registry Laws in the Inferior Court and had been fined [dollars] 100. Unable to pay the fine, he had been hired out to Harris to work off the sum owing. He was therefore being legally detained in accordance with the law. Judgment of the court below was affirmed.
