- Summary
- Certain commercially available transistors can be operated in what appears to be a parametric mode in which the useful frequency range of the device can be extended from 100 to 200 times the normal alpha-cutoff frequency. An amplifier circuit was designed for use with low intermediate frequency transistors. The operation of the amplifier closely parallels that of the degenerate case for parametric diodes in that both input and output circuits are tuned to the signal frequency, while the feedback circuit is tuned to twice the signal frequency. In this configuration, power gains in excess of 40 db were measured at 400 mc using a 2-mc alpha-cutoff transistor. (auth)
