Summary
Thc abnormally high value of the lapliician of a beryllium oxide-- natural uranlum lattice can perhaps be , caused by secondary neutron reactions in the beryllium oxide. An attempt is made to establish thc effect of these rcactions in a bofryllia reactor. The cquations for the neutron balance of the sccondary reactions are derlved and evaluatcd. The results are applied to the case of a reactor with a heterogeneous medium. (J.S.R.)
