Data obtained by the calibration of 2-mil-diameter 28gage chromel- constantan thermocouple wire for nucleareating-rate sensors are reported. Analysis of the data is resented, showing that temperature measurement errors of plus or minus 0.75 deg C or more may be expected if the average temperature emf characteristics for these thermocouples is used to convent the measured emf of the heat-rate-sensor thermocouples. A msthod of calibrating the heat-rate-sensor thermocouples without disturbing them is described. The use of this method should result in an estimated reduction of temperature emf uncertainty by a factor of 10 (i.e., of the order of 0.075 deg C or less). (auth)
