- Summary
- The analysis of the operation of the photomultipliers was made by observing the pulse output at extreme conditions and working back to normal conditions. The physical mechanism which is said to account for increased efficiency of photoelectric emission brought about by photon irradiation of the photo-cathode, explains several inconsistencies in the operation of the photomultiplier. It is felt that the pulse output method provdes an experimental approach for basic studies of the semiconductor type of photo-cathode. (B.O.G.)
