- Summary
- The effects of 300-, 600-, and 3000-rep beta doses on epidermal nucleases, viz. an acid DNase (DNase II, pH range 4.5 to 5.0) and a basic DNase (DNase I, pH 7.4), are examined. The effects of these irradiations on the relative epidermal concentrations of extracellular and cell-bound Mg/sup 2+/, on the epidermal concentrations of urea, ammonia, and free amino acids, and on skin tumor incidence are also studied. Optimal conditions are found for determinations of epidermal DNase I and DNase II, phosphatases, adenosine5'- nucleotidase, adenosine-5'-deoxyribonucleotidase, adenosine triphosphatase, and thymidine-5'-monophosphatase. The catabolism of purine and pyrimidine compounds is investigated. (T.F.H.)
