Seepage or percolation rates through soil samples from well drillings from the seepage basin areas in the Savannah River Plant were raeasured. Seepage solutions were demineralized water at pH 6 and water adjusted to pH 3 with nitric acid. Correlation of flow rates were attempted by a modification of the Poiseuille equation ior laminar flow based on soil particle diameters and porosity. The correlation showed a definite pattern, but varied over the very wide limits of three orders of magnitude indicating that other effects need to be evaluated. (auth)
