- Summary
- An integrated system of energy and economic models is developed for use in assessing the energy and economic impact of a wide range of government energy policies. The system incorporates detailed engineering information for a wide range of potential new energy technologies and relates implementation levels of these new technologies to the structure of the energy sector and to such economic aggregates as the level and rates of change of income, output, employment, and prices. Solution of a preliminary version of the system indicates that the real economic costs of a balanced oil import reduction policy of providing additional new energy technology and taxing imported oil will be less than those associated with an oil import reduction policy relying solely on oil import taxes.
