Summary
Commercial extrusions of a control rod cruciform shape using Zircaloy-1 to simulate hafnium were unsuccessfully extruded from SAE 1020 steel the mild steel billet was extruded at 2200 deg F with a press loading of 2120 tons which was also required for the Zircaloy-1 extrusion at 1800 deg F. (W.D.M.)
