In July 1975, the Biomedical Computing Technology Information Center (BCTIC) was established by the Division of Biomedical and Environmental Research of the U. S. Energy Research and Development Administration (ERDA) at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory. BCTIC collects, organizes, evaluates, and disseminates information on computing technology pertinent to biomedicine, providing needed routes of communication between installations and serving as a clearinghouse for the exchange of biomedical computing software, data, and interface designs. This paper presents BCTIC's functions and early progress to the MUMPS Users' Group in order to stimulate further discussion and cooperation between the two organizations. (BCTIC services are available to its sponsors and their contractors and to any individual/group willing to participate in mutual exchange.) 1 figure.
