Sonoko tells Shigezo that she attended a meeting where all the local families had someone present and they discussed the situation of who would take over the Japanese farms when the families were relocated. She asks him to let the other fathers know not to be worried about their families. She also says that from tomorrow there will be a curfew in place and they will have to be at home by eight and during the daytime they must be within five miles of home.
