Letters sent by Mamie Whaley Stemons, James Stemons' first wife, to Mary S Johnson. Mamie offers Mary comfort over her abusive estranged husband, and discusses the general health of the family. Mamie also talks at length of James' difficulties at the Philadelphia Courant, and his eventual resignation.
