- Summary
- Accessibility and quasilinear Landau damping considerations limit the density and temperature of plasma which may be effectively heated by lower hybrid (LH) waves. In conjunction with a global thermonuclear ignition condition, it is found that LH heating to ignition is possible if the plasma size and magnetic field satisfy aB/sup 2/ greater than or approximately equal to 70 (meters-tesla/sup 2/).
