- Summary
- The neutral-beam research and development effort at LLL has been concerned mainly with design, construction, and testing of ion sources needed in present and planned experiments, chiefly at LLL. Development of techniques for producing reactor-type neutral beam systems with higher voltage, current, and duty cycle proceeds as resources permit. An important part of this program is the attempt to increase the physics understanding and technology needed for the design of beams with precisely controlled trajectories, e.g., converging beams.
