- Summary
- The vapor pressure, heat of vaporization, and orthobaric density of 2,2,3-trichloroheptafluorobutane (CF/sub 3/CCl/sub 2/CFCl CF/sub 3/) have been determined. The vapor pressure equation based on data obtained between 30 and 173/sup 0/C was obtained. The calculated boiling point at 760 mm. of mercury pressure is 96.7/sup 0/C. An equation for the orthobaric liquid density from 0.0 to 117.5/sup 0/C was derived. The heat of vaporization was calculated to vary from 8207 cal. per mole at 60/sup 0/C to 6728 cal. per mole at 140/sup 0/C. Exploratory studies were made which demonstrated the separability by distillation of uranium hexafluoride from either 2,2,3-trichloroheptafluorobutane or from the azeotropic combination of 2,2,3-trichloroheptafluorobutane and perfluorodimethylcyclohexane (C-816).
