Summary
In vitro blastogenesis was utilized as a parameter of immune responsiveness. It was reasoned that if suppressor T cells played a part in immune unresponsiveness to HGG, thymocytes that had been exposed to sHGG in vivo for 24 hrs might well suppress immune blastogenesis to HGG by sensitized splenocytes in vitro. In preliminary experiments the sensitized splenocytes were found to require 4 days of culture for optimal response. Thymocytes from animals treated with tolerogen 24 hrs previously appear to suppress an in vitro blastogenic response. In all three experimental situations, there was a small but significant difference between the group receiving 2 x 10/sup 5/ sensitized thymocytes and the group receiving 2 x 10/sup 5/ tolerant thymocytes.
