- Summary
- Joe Pendleton, a saxophone playing boxer, is mistakenly collected and taken to heaven by an overanxious angel before his scheduled death, and he can't go back to his original body. What to do? Based on a 1938 play, the first filmed adaptation was 1941's "Here Comes Mr. Jordan." In this version, Pendleton learns his presence in heaven was a mistake and that he cannot return to his original body because his boxing manager had him cremated. The challenge is to now find a new body for him to inhabit, who will look like the person whose body he inhabits but only with Pendleton's memories.
