- Summary
- Experiments have been performed on the chemical separation of radioactive products obtained in the bombardment of americium-243 with accelerated neon-22 ions (compound nucleus-element 105) by adsorption of gaseous chlorides from flowing carrier gas on the surface of a glass tube, over which a temperature gradient was established. It was found that the chloride of the spontaneous fission activity present is less volatile than niobium chloride but not less volatile than hafnium chloride. Such volatility properties are predicted for element 105-ehatantalum. 18 decay events were detected. (2 tables, 1 figure) (auth)
