- Summary
- Two overpower transients were analyzed for GE's PLBR with homogeneous core. These analyses were done to provide a basis for planning the PINEX-3 experiment. Because the PINEX-3 experiment is planned with annular fuel the initial fuel pin design for GE's PLBR was modified to include an initial fuel annulus of .032'' diameter. The 10 cents/second and 50 cents/second reactivity transients in the PLBR were analyzed with the FOXE code. The FOXE analyses included the following reactivity feedback effects: Doppler feedback; and fuel, cladding, coolant, and structure thermal expansion. The power history from the FOXE analyses were input into the THTD code, which was used to calculate the detailed thermal response of the annular PLBR pin.
