- Summary
- MAPEDIT is an interactive computer graphics program used in conjunction with MAPPER (1) to add enhancements (e.g., lines, labels, and boxes) to a MAPPER plot. Annotation and other enhancements that would be difficult to place on a MAPPER plot before seeing it are easy to add using MAPEDIT. First MAPPER draws a plot on the screen of an interactive graphics terminal supported by MAPEDIT. Then MAPEDIT commands and the terminal's graphic input device (e.g., crosshair cursor controlled by thumbwheel or joystick) are used to edit the plot by adding enhancements to it. As these enhancements are made, the corresponding MAPPER commands needed to produce them are written in an output file. This output file may then be modified by a text editor, if desired, and run through MAPPER on any device that will give high-quality final output. The MAPEDIT program is currently installed on both the Computer Sciences and the Fusion Energy Division PDP-10 systems. It must be used with a Tektronix 4054 or Tektronix 4010-family terminal (excluding Tektronic 4006) or a terminal compatible with one of these, such as the DEC VT 100 equipped with the Retrographics VT 640 enhancement by Digital Engineering.
