- Summary
- The (..pi../sup +/, pp) and (..pi../sup +/, pd) reactions in /sup 6/Li and /sup 7/Li have been studied at T/sub ..pi../ = 59.5 MeV with high resolution. For the (..pi../sup +/, pp) reaction the first triple-differential cross sections are presented. The data are fitted to a T-matrix and are compared to the ..pi../sup +/d ..-->.. pp reaction. A model in which the pion is absorbed on a 3S/sub 1/ (pn) pair in the lithium nucleus is shown to describe many features of the data very well. A method for analyzing the (..pi../sup +/, pd) reaction has been developed and preliminary excitation spectra are presented. 115 refs., 54 figs., 15 tabs.
